Artist Statement

My work aims to provoke thought and discussion about social and political issues.

I am a designer-maker, working predominantly with precious metal and found materials to make narrative jewellery. The pieces are small and precise with an attention to detail and stand alone as objects when not being worn.

I see jewellery as the perfect medium for conveying messages. Like a walking billboard it gets taken into many different social situations. The resulting dialogue between the maker, wearer and viewer is important to me.

The challenges posed by materials and the processes are what drive me, whilst the enjoyment is in engaging and developing my knowledge.

The extensive possibilities for joining, forming and marking are the qualities that draw me to metal as a medium.

I am able to work to commission, liaising with the customer to develop a unique piece that meets their requirements.
